Chamber of Commerce of Dolenjska and Bela krajina

Introduction of the Chamber

Companies of Dolenjska and Bela krajina were first to take the advantage of the new Chamber of commerce law. Regional companies have confirmed the formation of the first legally independent regional chamber of commerce in Slovenia at the founding meeting in April 2007 named The Chamber of Commerce of Dolenjska and Bela krajina which has became operative on the 1 September 2007.

Chamber of Commerce of Dolenjska and Bela krajina consists of these bodies:

All the Chamber’s members represent the assembly. Chamber membership brings the right to vote to every holder. Board of directors is a body of management. It consists of the president and 16 members, representatives of the most respected companies from Dolenjska and Bela krajina. Supervisory committee of three members oversees the legality, economy and regularity of conduct of the Chamber. Jože Colarič was appointed to the position of the president and Franci Bratkovič was appointed to the position of the manager of the chamber.

Founder members

The Chamber was granted support by the most respected companies in the region. Its foundation was supported by 63 companies, majority of them are the largest. The easiest way to show strength of the new Chamber is by citing the following information. In 2006 founder members themselves have created almost 2 billion € of income (half of the entire region income). More importantly they have generated the profit of 160 million € or almost three quarters of all region’s profit respectively. Added value per employee within founder members is stated at 46.768 € which is higher by 29% than added value per employee in the region. The region is extremely export oriented. We create more than 64% of income on foreign markets (by comparison – entire Slovenia creates 28.9% of all income on foreign markets). This data shows the greatest interest to become a member is found among the most successful companies.

Emphasis on support to regional economy

With the legal independence of the new Chamber, we have enabled major emphasis on the regional activities and consequently bigger support to the regional economy. In economy we know for a long time that only by combining our strengths we are able to influence the changes in legislation, the projects important for the efficiency of operations, the instalment of better economic conditions and more. It is only right that the interests of economy are considered at the implementation of the third development axis, at the planning of the University Campus and other projects which will give opportunity to advance the economy of Dolenjska and Bela krajina even further.

Agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia

Upon signing an agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, Chamber of Commerce of Dolenjska and Bela krajina was granted representation in collective negotiations and in the international sphere of activities.

The agreement enables all members of our Chamber the access to information and inclusion in the projects, which exceed regional boundaries.

The link between the state and economy

The Chamber has an important role in linking of the state with the economy on important issues of development.
